Communities of Practice

This page provides information on CAUL Communities of Practice and other groups. Many of these have an associated email list. The CAUL Communities of Practice have members from across all CAUL Member institutions, including New Zealand institutions.

Australian Scholarly Communications Community of Practice

The Australian Scholarly Communications Community of Practice is an initiative of Open Access Australasia, CAUL, and Creative Commons Australia. The CoP focuses on Scholarly Communication, including innovative approaches, Open Access, Open Science, especially related to developments in this region. 

The Australian Scholarly Communications Community of Practice replaces the CAUL Research Support Community of Practice, the successor to the former CAIRSS group.

CAUL Deputy University Librarians Network

The Deputy University Librarians Network provides a forum for CAUL Member institution Deputies to engage in collegial professional learning, knowledge and information sharing, and networking activities.

CAUL Digital Dexterity Community of Practice

The Digital Dexterity Community of Practice was established in 2019 as an outcome of the former Digital Dexterity strategic program. 

CAUL Library Collections Analysis Community of Practice

The purpose of the Library Collections Analysis Community of Practice is to provide a forum for its members to share data analysis strategies and best practice in evaluating the performance of library collections.

CAUL Library Learning and Teaching Leaders Community of Practice

The purpose of the Library Learning and Teaching Leaders Community of Practice is to provide a forum for CAUL Member institution staff to engage in collegial professional learning and information sharing related to library learning and teaching at a management and leadership level. 

CAUL Library User Experience Community of Practice

The purpose of the Library User Experience (UX) Community of Practice is to provide a forum for CAUL Member institution staff to engage in collegial professional learning and information sharing related to professional UX practice that supports systemic user-centred decision-making across library functions. 

CAUL Library Value & Impact Community of Practice

The CAUL Library Value & Impact Community of Practice (LV&ICoP) was formed in 2017 under the auspices of the former CAUL Quality & Assessment Advisory Committee. The purpose of the LV&I CoP is to promote good practice and build common capability in planning, performance, evaluation, and measurement across a range of library activity. The group meets via Zoom every 6 weeks for 1 hour with a rotating chair using an agenda determined by the members, who are practitioners with a quality / standards / analytics /communications or marketing role.

CAUL Transformative Agreements Implementation Community of Practice

The Transformative Agreements Community of Practice provides a forum for CAUL Member institution staff to engage in collegial professional learning and information sharing related to implementation and management of transformative agreements.
