For Consortium Vendors

Getting Started

If you are a publisher or content vendor who is interested in working with the CAUL Consortium, please read through the following information. Once you have done this you may contact the CAUL National Office via email with any questions, or respond to the invitation to provide an offer for the upcoming subscription year, as detailed here.

CAUL Statements and guidance documents for publishers and vendors

Read & Publish Publication reporting requirements

Publishers who have a Read & Publish agreement in place for CAUL Members must supply regular publication reports. View information about reporting requirements.

Fast Track to OA Toolkit for Publishers

To accelerate the transition to Open Access, CAUL is providing a toolkit for publishers that enables faster Transformative Agreement implementation. By using the templates and following the criteria provided, Publishers and Vendors can now quickly and easily submit proposals that are pre-approved. More detail about this program, and how it supports open access for Australian and New Zealand research, can be found here.

Offer Invitations for 2024 Subscription Year

Offers for the 2024 Subscription Year are now open.

Vendors who do not have an agreement negotiated through CAUL may engage in direct marketing with members but may not reference CAUL when doing so. CAUL may only be referenced in direct communications with members once an agreement has been successfully negotiated through CAUL and communicated to members via ConsortiaManager.

Resource Sharing Model Clause

In response to requests by CAUL Consortium members to increase the number of publishers that allow resource sharing, CAUL Procurement, in conjunction with the Australian Libraries Copyright Committee (ALCC) and CAVAL, commenced a project to develop a model clause to supply to publishers.

CAUL FTE Data and Bands

Information about CAUL FTE data and bands including weighted FTEs and FTEs for disciplines is available to both Content Coordinators and Consortium Vendors on the CAUL FTE Data and Bands page.

ConsortiaManager

ConsortiaManager is a procurement workflow application with all consortial procurement data stored in one place and enabling electronic workflow for the various procurement stages. Offers to the CAUL Consortium are made available in ConsortiaManager only and access to ConsortiaManager is limited to Consortium Members.

For 2023 renewals, publishers that have previously made offers, ConsortiaManager will auto email a customised pricing spreadsheet prepopulated with data from the previous year and will only need to supply the new subscription price and the new list price.

Contact Details of Consortium Members

Content Coordinators are the officially designated contacts for CAUL Consortium Member institutions in all three membership categories: Australian (CAUL) and New Zealand (CONZUL) universities as well as Other Members who are external participants, from other higher education and research institutions and government departments in Australia and New Zealand. Wherever possible, all interested Consortium Members are included in CAUL-negotiated agreements with publishers and other suppliers. In some cases, non-academic institutions may be excluded or offered different terms.

Consortium Vendors have access to current contact details for CAUL Consortium Members  and each member entry also includes their current FTE & IP ranges.
