Copyright Advocacy

Copyright laws affect university libraries’ core business and their mission to provide unimpeded access to information. Fair and affordable access to content depends on Australia having up-to-date copyright law. CAUL works with the Australian Digital Alliance (ADA) and the Australian Libraries and Archives Copyright Committee (ALACC) to improve copyright policy and advance copyright reform in Australia.

Currently, the CAUL Lead for Copyright Advocacy provides analysis and advice to the CAUL Board and Council on copyright issues, supported by the CAUL Copyright Working Group. The current Copyright Lead, Roxanne Missingham, also Chairs the UA Copyright Advisory Committee which works closely with Universities Australia on copyright related matters that are of significance to Australian universities and university libraries.
