The IFLA Statement on Open Access to Scholarly Literature and Research Documentation has just been announced at

As you will recall, Cathrine and I raised a number of issues in relation to open access, instutional repositories and epublishing at our meeting in Cairns. Since then a number of initiatives have been developing at various universities, including the epublishing workshop and launch of UTSePress here last month and the DEST Research Information Infrastructure projects being lead by ANU and Monash.
The announcement of the IFLA Statement offers an opportunity for CAUL members to further the Cairns discussion and highlight the issues across the Australian scholarly community. I suggest that
