Background
Updated 12 September 1996
The National Scholarly Communications Forum was formed in October
1993, following the very successful conference on Changes in
Scholarly Communications Patterns held in Canberra in April
1993. Its member organisations are concerned to ensure that Australia
obtains maximum benefits in the rapid transition to forms of electronic
communication for publishers, libraries, education providers and
the business of government. The Forum currently comprises:

- Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia
- Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering
- Australian Book Publishers Association
- Australian Council of Libraries and Information Services
- Australian Library and Information Association
- Australian Society of Authors
- Committee of Australian University Directors of Information

Organisation and Finance
The NSCF is a non-profit association. This Round Table is organised
on behalf of the National Scholarly Communications Forum by the
Council of Australian University Librarians.
