Background

The National Scholarly Communications Forum was formed in October 1993, following the very successful conference on Changes in Scholarly Communications Patterns held in Canberra in April 1993. Its member organisations are concerned to ensure that Australia obtains maximum benefits in the rapid transition to forms of electronic communication for publishers, libraries, education providers and the business of government. The Forum currently comprises:

• Round Table 2 Public Access to Networked Information (October 1994)
• Round Table 3 Intellectual Property Issues in a Networked Information Environment (June 1995)
• Round Table 4 The Future of Academic Publishing (February 1996)

Organisation and Finance

The NSCF is a non-profit association. This Round Table is organised on behalf of the National Scholarly Communications Forum by the Council of Australian University Librarians.
