Call for expressions of interest to provide a service to Australian university libraries.
Expressions of interest are sought from service providers for the implementation of a WEB-BASED DATABASE SERVICE (FULL-TEXT or NUMERIC) for Australian university libraries.
The primary goal of the Database Access Program is to provide all staff and students of Australian universities with improved access to a range of information databases in a manner which is cost-effective, takes advantage of cooperative purchasing, complements institutional and national infrastructure investment and improves the quality of support for teaching and research. The Program supports the introduction of innovative services for which recurrent funding will be provided by individual institutions.
Context.
The Australian Government, through Department of Employment, Education, Training and Youth Affairs, has provided funding in 1994-96 to improve library services which support teaching, learning and research in the university sector. The funding is used to support the introduction of innovative services for which recurrent funding will be provided by individual institutions.
