NEWS: 29/1/08 Springer Protocols, a protocol database of over 18,000 searchable online protocols in life sciences and biomedicine. The protocols provide step-by-step 'recipes,' that can be executed in a controlled laboratory environment. Springer Protocols is a subscription product published under the Humana Press imprint, and can be found at www.springerprotocols.com.  (NB Swets [have been] given the exclusive rights to sell the newly rebranded Protocols (formerly Humana Protocols, now Springer Protocols) to CEIRC members.)

Springer expands market leadership in Russia through new journals agreement with the publisher of the Russian Academy of Sciences
Content from MAIK Nauka/Interperiodica to be made available to subscribers of SpringerLink
Springer and MAIK Nauka/Interperiodica announce a major expansion of the English-language journals program of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Starting in January, 2006, some 105 of the most important scientific journals will be translated into English and compiled into an independent online library within SpringerLink, the Internet portal of Springer, under the name “Russian Library of Science.” The journals include prestigious publications such as JETP (Journal of Experimental and Theoretical Physics) and Physics of the Solid State, both previously distributed by the American Institute of Physics (AIP), as well as prominent journals such as Doklady Mathematics, previously distributed by EBSCO. The initial result will be an expansion of the Springer catalogue of Russian journals in English by approximately 50 new journals, with further expansions anticipated during the course of the agreement.

Springer´s policy on ILL is as follows (14/5/03):

The Subscriber may supply to another library other than a commercial or for profit library (whether by post, fax or secure electronic transmission using Ariel or its equivalent, whereby the electronic file is deleted immediately after printing) for the purposes of research or private study, a single paper copy of an electronic original of an individual document.
Springer´s comment on archival rights is as follows (28/7/03):
Archival rights for a library´s "own" subscribed journals are included.

For example, UNE has a print subscription to journal X, which they want to convert to e-only as part of this offer. Five years down the road, they leave the consortium. They will still receive online access (or on CD Rom, etc. for a small fee) to those issues which they subscribed to.  For a fee, they can also maintain access to the backfiles of those titles not held by them, but available as part of the wider package (i.e. the 400-odd Springer journals).
