Statistics:  Each individual customer has their own statistics available using their username and password through:  www.hcn.com.au/statistics/*username*  (Your username is available from your Datasets Coordinator or from HCN) Also, due to space restrictions, HCN do not usually archive the University statistics, however they are downloadable from their website for customer archiving.

McGraw-Hill products are also marketed in Australian through HCN:  HCN have acted as McGraw-Hill’s distributor for many years and the sales team constantly send out McGraw-Hill material and meet with university staff to discuss their products. The final decision to purchase is then processed via CAUL. Up to now CAUL has asked to be invoiced directly by McGraw-Hill in the US due to the GST implication. [HCN is] happy to invoice all universities directly and provide the same CAUL discount to avoid any GST complications. The McGraw-Hill platform is the same via HCN or direct. HCN additionally act as a 24/7 support desk in case any issues occur. HCN support also provides usage statistics to all the universities and correlate their various resources into one location. Case Based Learning (CBL)

I would like to offer to you a 2 week free trial to MIMS via the HCN website .... for the use of the participating unis.  I have two other products in addition to MIMS that I would to offer to everyone via the same two week free trial: AUSDI (the first comprehensive, Authoritative, unbiased source of drug info and Therapeutic Info for Australian Health care professionals - Australian content is the key!) and Case Based Learning (CBL - an effective and convenient way of keeping your medical knowledge  up to date.  CBL integrates a powerful, problem-based on-line learning environment that has the student/professional review cases, and includes clinical content, threaded discussion groups, integrated learning resources including clinical guidelines, Cochrane results and self-assessment resources (including online MCQs and threaded discussion) with opps for future accrual of CME points. It's a great learning and resource tool.

This is a chance for the CAUL to expand its subscription at better than list pricing.  CAUL can opt to take advantage of special pricing in November for the above three databases and offer them to all the participating unis or the unis can take individual subs to any or all three of the databases also at special pricing.

Please forward this e-mail to the participating CAUL Cochrane unis. Everyone can trial these three products for free via the HCN website over the next two weeks.  To do so:

Direct you browsers to www.hcn.com.au
Click on Online Knowledge Resources in the centre of the home page
Click on drug info from the menu on the left hand side to access MIMS and AUSDI
Click on Tutorials to access Case Based Learning
After clicking on the selected database you will be prompted for passcodes.

[Circulated to the list] are the passcodes for beginning a 2 week free trial either Tomorrow, Thursday, 8/11/01 or Friday, 9/11/01.
