Council of Australian University Librarians (CAUL)

The AMICO (The Art Museum Image Consortium) Library
(no longer available from 1 July 2005)
to be replaced at RLG by CAMIO - the Catalog of ARt Museum Images Online

Updated 9 June, 2005

NEWS: AMICO's Library of images will not be available beyond June 30, 2005 and all AMICO operations are scheduled to conclude in August 2005. Until those dates, AMICO will continue to support the independent distributors of its image library as well as the needs of its museum membership and library subscribers. All subscriptions now in place will be honored, and new subscriptions accepted, in accord with respective AMICO Distributor contracts and policies, so long as they expire on or before June 30, 2005.

As of June 30, 2005, all existing licenses to The AMICO Library will be terminated, and subscribers reminded of their obligations under their AMICO Library Agreement.  Requirements of that Agreement mandate that no AMICO Library content be retained beyond the Agreement's term.  Also, all AMICO Library content stored in local systems must be destroyed.

Should you wish to negotiate individual rights to specific images outside of the AMICO Library Agreement, AMICO offers the convenience of a Rights Request Form, available from http://search.amico.org/.  Simply search for the work(s) you are interested in, click on the "rights" link, and complete the form.  It will be routed to the appropriate AMICO Member for action.

AMICO Library University Agreement & University Subscription Agreement (Short form)

Pricing for 2004 (27/5/04)
Pricing for 2001.
Our consortial pricing has two requirements: a minimum of 3 institutions in a consortia participating and a minimum annual subscription of $10,000 per consortia.

To get the consortial price, you multiply the number of full-time undergraduates from participating institutions by $.50.  Then you determine the next level of discount as shown in the table below:

Discount Rate EITHER OR
Users % Participation

20% <99,999 < 50%
30% 100,000 -499,999 50 - 69%
40% 500,000 -999,999 70 - 99%
50% 1,000,000+ 100%

Given the size and range of institutions in your consortia, I would guess that figuring the discount from the percentage of participation within the consortia will be much less advantageous, so I'll do an example based on number of users (I'm fabricating the enrollment figures).

Adelaide University      12,000
Bond University             2,000
Central Queensland U   15,000
La Trobe University        3,000
Total:                           32,000 x $.50 = $16,000 x 20% (<99,999 users) = $12,800 final cost

Actual quote (received 11 July 2001):

ANU 5,838 FTE $4,000
RMIT 20,671 FTE $7,000
SUB-TOTAL 26,509 $11,000
Discount 0%
TOTAL $11,000
