This trial runs from 1 July 1995 until 31 October 1995. There is no direct cost to CAUL member institutions.
ABI/Inform with full text file (without images) is mounted on a unix machine in the office of OVID Technologies (formerly CD PLUS) in Sydney. UNILINC has been appointed facilities manager, following their successful operation of the Current Contents databases for CAUL.
The trial will support 30 simultaneous users via the OVID software (currently being used for Current Contents). It wil be important to note that this is a trial and that this number of simultaneous users is unlikely to meet the eventual demand.
Users will telnet via AARNET to the unix server in Sydney.
Passwords currently used for the OVID Current Contents service will automatically access both databases Current Contents and ABI/Inform from 1 July. All current logins, either group or individual, will be able to use both databases. Users will be given the choice of CC or ABI/Inform.
"The ABI/Inform with Full Text database covers 1,000 critical business information sources, 350 of which are published outside the U.S. The database provides coverage of companies and products, business strategies, management trends and case studies. Complete bibliographic information is available for each citation (25-200 word abstracts). Ascii full text is available from 1991 onwards for over 520 of the 1,000 publications."
The documentation has been sent out to the registered "database administrators" of Current Contents, plus the nominated three from those institutions who don't subscribe to CC. It included
