History of the ADT.
This program began in 1998 as a project funded by the ARC, transferred to CAUL in July, 2001, became fully supported by CAUL members in 2003 and CONZUL members from 2006.
The ADT officially became the Australasian Digital Theses Program in September, 2005, when CAUL adopted the revised business plan which includes the New Zealand Universities as full members.
From March, 2009 it was effectively subsumed by CAIRSS (CAUL Australasian Institutional Repository Support Service). Help for institutional policy and support may be obtained from the CAIRSS contact personnel.
During 2010, the remaining institutions using the original VT-ETD software to host their digital theses were migrated to their various institutional repositories.
The ADT Website, a central metadata repository, was hosted at the University of New South Wales, but has now been decommissioned (28 March 2011).
Theses will still be accessible via the awarding institutions, via Google, and via the National Library of Australia's Trove discovery service. For further information, see Finding Australian theses.
